Lecture 4 in the Tipperary Museum War of Independence Series is presented by Catherine Marshall, art historian, curator and writer. This talk will survey the challenges to making art that reflected key personalities and events, without patronage and trying to manage the thin line between propaganda, sentimentality and quality. it will also look at how this period has been treated retrospectively in monuments and artworks.
